Session 1-1: The Next-Generation Mobile Government Experience Part II

Citizens can now review their bank balances, order food, pay bills and check the weather on a mobile device – but if they want to inquire on the status of a tax return, medical benefit, or federal student loan, they often have to turn to their computer and navigate to one of the 24,000 websites maintained by the federal government. Mobile technologies cannot be ignored, but the challenge is greater than simply providing mobile-friendly website formats. How can agencies translate their information and services to a mobile platform without sacrificing content or functionality? How can agencies navigate the growth of devices, operating systems, and apps? As the DOD completes approval to use the first Android-based operating system on its networks, and the Department of Veterans Affairs plans its purchase of 100,000 tablets, this session will discuss how agencies can quickly develop mobile content without force-fitting the desktop experience.

Attendees will learn:

  • How agencies can effectively reach citizens and stakeholders through mobile technologies
  • How to integrate multiple mobile platforms into a unified user experience
  • What tools and technologies are available to manage content in all forms, desktop or mobile
  • The future of mobile technology for government
